Added "Alternative Assets" to the CSS/JS Manager. Create and edit lighter alternatives for CSS and JavaScript assets that still need to load, choose where the alternatives are used, and compare their sizes without modifying the original source.
Melhoria
Reduced redundant processing during Combine CSS/JS cache validation and avoided unnecessary cache rebuilds when separate inline JavaScript, JSON content, or CSP nonce values change.
Import/Export preserves Pro settings and rules when transferred through Lite, ready for use after upgrading to Pro.
Correção
Improved Combine CSS/JS reliability, including asset ordering, cache invalidation, regeneration of missing combined files, and homepage cache cleanup.
Improved JavaScript combining and BODY defer handling to preserve script execution order and existing defer behavior while safely applying defer to eligible BODY scripts.
Roll back Asset CleanUp Pro to an eligible previous version from "Tools" (plugin's menu) - "Rollback", with version selection and confirmation before installation. Existing settings are preserved.
Segurança
Admin Bar: Fixed a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the admin bar by validating asset unload parameters and escaping dynamic output (CVE-2026-92236). Reported by 'Huseyn (mekhatai) Gadashov' via Wordfence.
Comment Content XSS: Completed the fix for the stored cross-site scripting via comment content (follow-up to CVE-2026-13354). The final cleanup of the plugin's temporary data-wpacu-* attributes on tags, previously two whole-document replacements, is now scoped to each tag and uses bounded, quote-aware patterns. Reported by 'crow' via Wordfence.
Front-end HTML Cleanup: Removed the last remaining whole-document replacement from the HTML cleanup step (it stripped data-wpacu-style-handle from tags); that cleanup now runs through the same tag-scoped methods. Found during the internal review that followed the report above. Every temporary-attribute cleanup is now confined to the tag it belongs to and cannot touch any other part of the page, including user-submitted content.
Admin Bar transfer savings estimates for unloaded CSS/JS files and removed inline code, with AJAX-based measurements and Brotli/GZIP indicators.
Melhoria
Separate effective asset unloads from rules that had no effect on the current page, with inactive rules grouped by asset type.
Rule Management: "Overview" is now the recommended place to review and manage bulk rules, including dormant rules left behind by deleted pages or deactivated plugins. Removed "Bulk Changes" from the top navigation, WordPress sidebar, and Admin Bar. The legacy page remains accessible through its direct URL and existing bookmarks: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpassetcleanup_bulk_unloads
The "CSS/JS Manager" and Admin Bar now explain when "Page Options" disable optimizations, including CSS/JS unload rules. Admin Bar warnings identify disabled features, while clearer descriptions, dimmed overridden options, and quick links make these settings easier to understand.
Debugging "/?wpacu_debug": Added temporary "Page Options" overrides without changing saved settings. Debugging controls now update their availability and distinguish global restrictions, Page Options overrides, and missing rules.
Debugging "/?wpacu_debug": Added per-file CSS/JS optimization details explaining content changes, unchanged results, exclusions, failures, and cache decisions. Multiple optimization reasons can be shown for the same file.
Overview: Added navigation entries for "Page Options" and "Special Settings", clarified page overrides, and dimmed redundant options.
Correção
Interface: Corrected "Overview" horizontal overflow and alignment
CSS Optimization: When an optimized stylesheet has a matching fallback, the fallback now uses the same optimized cache URL instead of retaining the original unminified URL.
CSS/JS Manager: Selecting “Remove bulk rule” or "Remove site-wide rule" now correctly removes the unload rules when saving changes.
Page Options: Fixed an issue where CSS/JS processing could still run on pages with "Disable all front-end optimizations" enabled. The plugin now checks the current page’s options before retaining the decision to allow optimizations, preventing unnecessary processing on excluded pages.
Reduced Google Fonts browser discovery traffic by running the collector for approximately 2% of public browsers while preserving duplicate protection for known configurations.
Made the Google Fonts discovery REST endpoint compatible with sites where WordPress pretty permalinks or REST rewrite rules are unavailable.
Correção
Browser discovery is now disabled by default, preventing discovery REST traffic on new or previously unsaved configurations until the feature is enabled.
Google Fonts: Added local hosting for Google Fonts, allowing detected stylesheets and font files to be downloaded, validated and served from the local cache.
Google Fonts: Added granular font removal, allowing specific Google Font families, weights and styles to be removed while keeping the remaining fonts unchanged.

Live Debugging: Redesigned the frontend Live Debugging interface (/?wpacu_debug) with theme-independent styling, clearer temporary controls, searchable plugin selection, expandable request and performance details, unavailable-option indicators, and a responsive floating action bar.
Data Compatibility: Hardened handling of legacy or unexpectedly formatted stored plugin data, preventing warnings or failures when settings and rules are already stored as arrays instead of JSON strings.
Import/Export: Added stricter structural validation before importing settings and rules, preventing malformed configuration data from being partially imported.
Plugin Icons: Improved WordPress.org plugin icon fetching and cache recovery so missing icons can be downloaded again instead of remaining permanently replaced by the default icon.
Access Control: Access-control settings are now hidden from delegated plugin managers who are not permitted to manage plugin access.
PHP 8.5: Avoided the deprecated curl_close call on modern PHP versions.
Removed legacy CSS and obsolete browser-specific declarations and performed related internal cleanup.
Correção
Plugins Manager: Prevented taxonomy and archive requests, including WooCommerce product categories, from being misidentified as singular pages in Plugins Manager rules.
Overview: Prevented warnings and invalid links when saved rules reference deleted or unavailable taxonomies or taxonomy terms, while keeping the affected rules visible for review.
JavaScript Optimization: Prevented warnings when optional JavaScript optimization settings are unavailable or disabled.
Segurança
Debugging Overrides: Hardened temporary query-string settings overrides with administrator authorization and nonce validation, and prevented request-scoped troubleshooting values from being accidentally persisted to the database.
Font Preload Audit: Added a browser-assisted audit for manually preloaded Local and Google Fonts. The audit checks representative pages in desktop and mobile viewports, identifies duplicate, invalid or unnecessary site-wide preloads and provides conservative cleanup recommendations without removing the fonts themselves.
Critical CSS: Added a global control directly in the Critical CSS Manager to temporarily pause or resume all Critical CSS output while preserving the existing rules.
Tools / Storage: Added a read-only Database Map showing where Asset CleanUp stores settings, optimization rules, metadata, transients and Pro-specific data.
Tools / Uninstall: Added a dedicated, explicitly confirmed action for removing all Asset CleanUp data before uninstalling the plugin, including settings, optimization rules, metadata, transients, license data and generated cache files.
Melhoria
JavaScript Optimization: Improved handling of modern JavaScript, including module/nomodule scripts and scripts using integrity, nonce, crossorigin or referrerpolicy attributes, preventing unsafe combine, inline or Match Media transformations.
Resource Loading: Hardened image attribute and lazy-loading rule validation, improved compatibility with rules saved by older versions and fixed edge cases where attributes such as src could be confused with data-src.
CSS/JS Manager Settings: Redesigned the manager preferences area with clearer navigation and explanations, better-organized controls for management locations, access, list appearance and optimized-file cache settings.
Settings and CSS/JS Manager: Added unsaved-change counters and persistent save areas, making modified settings and asset rules easier to review before saving.
Dashboard Reliability: Improved AJAX validation, authorization and failure recovery across several Dashboard actions, including safer handling of invalid, expired or interrupted requests.
Tools / Storage: Added a detailed overview of generated CSS/JavaScript storage, including directory paths, file counts, disk usage, write status and filtering between optimized assets and supporting files.
Tools / Debugging: Redesigned the troubleshooting area with clearer diagnostic modes, copyable test URLs and protected PHP error-log downloads.
Tools / Reset: Added more granular reset options for Critical CSS and front-end or Dashboard Plugins Manager rules, with clearer confirmation, deletion summaries and partial-failure reporting.
Tools / Uninstall: Cleanup results are shown on the Plugins page and partial filesystem failures are reported instead of returning a false success. Plugin settings are not recreated after cleanup.
Multisite Uninstall: Network-shared user access data and the Pro MU-plugin loader are preserved while Asset CleanUp Pro remains active on another site in the network.
Privacy, Dashboard Announcements: Remote announcements are now disabled by default and require an explicit administrator opt-in.
Correção
Plugin Rules: Fixed request-context detection on sites using plain permalinks, preventing homepage, search, author, date and taxonomy requests from being incorrectly treated as the same context.
Multisite Plugins Manager: Improved detection and handling of network-active plugins across Plugins Manager rules and WPACU internal requests.
Dashboard CSS/JS Manager: No longer reports a false external redirect or fails to fetch assets when WordPress runs on a non-standard port (e.g. localhost:8888)
Usage Data Settings: Fixed an undefined variable warning in the usage-data disclosure panel.
CSS and JavaScript: Combining now works when minification is disabled.
Upgrade Compatibility: Recently introduced access-control settings now receive their correct disabled or empty-list defaults when upgrading from older versions, preventing blank fields or unexpectedly enabled checkboxes.
Segurança
Remote Asset Handling: Further hardened remote asset retrieval and redirect validation, including safer handling of dynamically loaded resources and restricted redirect behavior.
License Administration: Removed an unsafe legacy GET-based license-status workaround and retained the protected POST-based recovery action.
License Server Output: Added strict allowlist sanitization for promotional HTML returned by the license server.

Plugins Manager: Introduced three interchangeable frontend rule layouts: Compact Grid, Grouped and Classic. Plugin rules remain shared between layouts.
Plugins Manager: Added plugin search and highlighting, rule/status counters, improved expand/collapse states, an unsaved-changes summary and a shared save dock.
Melhoria
Plugins Manager: Improved settings reliability and group expand/collapse controls, including clearer state handling and recovery when an AJAX request fails.
Dashboard CSS/JS Manager: When a selected URL redirects to another allowed internal URL, explicit confirmation is required before loading assets from the final destination. The redirected URL remains visible after loading. Redirects from non-homepage contexts to the homepage remain blocked.
Admin Experience: Major UI/UX refresh across Settings, Help, Getting Started, Critical CSS and multiple vertical/horizontal tab sections, including clearer layouts, spacing, typography, accessibility and content organization.
Interface Controls: Added a choice between the enhanced WPACU controls and standard browser-native form controls across supported admin areas.
Reduced expensive processing during updates and moved stale hardcoded-asset information cleanup to a scheduled maintenance task, particularly benefiting multilingual sites and installations with many saved rules.
Reorganized Critical CSS and Plugins Manager styles.
Segurança
Dashboard CSS/JS Manager: Hardened asset retrieval against SSRF, including redirect-destination, host, credential and alternate-port validation.
Plugins Manager: Added the "On specific posts, pages, products, or other entries" rule to unload plugins, or keep them loaded as exceptions, on selected singular entries. Rules are matched using resolved post IDs, so they continue to work after permalink or slug changes. Read more
Plugins Manager: Added the "On singular entries assigned to any of these taxonomy terms" rule to unload plugins, or keep them loaded as exceptions, according to taxonomy terms assigned to a post, page, product, or other custom post type entry. Read more
Melhoria
Plugins Manager: Hierarchical child pages, such as /parent/child/, are now correctly detected by unload rules and load exceptions.
Plugins Manager: Added a notice when rules are preserved for inactive or not-installed plugins, with direct access to review them in the Overview.
WPML: Exact singular-page unload rules and load exceptions now match translated permalinks at the early MU-plugin stage, including translated slugs, language directories, query-string languages, and separate language domains. The stored URL map is refreshed when relevant slugs, parent paths, permalink settings, or WPML URL settings change.
Critical CSS: Critical CSS can now be managed with the same granular page-type coverage as the CSS/JS Manager, including individual posts, pages, custom posts, taxonomy terms, author archives, date archives, search results, 404 pages, and custom post type archives.
CSS/JS Manager: Assets for virtually any supported page type can now be managed directly from the WordPress Dashboard, including archive pages that previously required front-end management.
Overview: Added quick section navigation, an optional sticky navigation bar, and back-to-top links.
Correção
Plugins Manager: Rules for inactive or not-installed plugins are now preserved when front-end or Dashboard configurations are saved.
Overview: Plugins Manager rules are now shown when the targeted plugins are not installed.
Import/Export: The "Everything" option now includes all supported rules and Critical CSS data.
Prevented a fatal error when "Prevent Asset CleanUp Pro from triggering on certain pages" was used and the RegEx helper class was unavailable while early triggers were loaded through the MU-plugin integration.
Ensured core plugin constants are initialized from the main plugin file, preventing incorrect plugin-basename detection in edge cases.

Overview: Made managing and cleaning existing rules significantly easier, particularly on sites with many optimization changes accumulated over time.
Admin bar: Added hover details for unloaded CSS/JS assets and plugins, showing the matched unload rule and its relevant value when available.

Optimize JS: When the WordPress core file "wp-i18n" is unloaded, the SCRIPT tag is replaced with another tag (much ligther) keeping "setLocaleData" and other functions active to avoid JS errors being shown in the console (ideal for websites with just one language)
Optimize JS: When a JS asset is unloaded and the option 'Ignore dependency rule and keep the "children" loaded' is used, make sure the inline JS associated with the asset is also cleared to avoid any JS errors in the console or even broken page functionality

Improvement for plugin's JavaScript files: The main "script" file was split into two files, one containing the most common code that clears the caching and it's used in many pages (e.g. when clicking the clear caching link from the top admin bar), which weights around 6% in comparison with the other files; This way, on many pages, fewer JavaScript code is loaded, thus reducing bandwidth for admin visits, and eliminating any potential conflicts with other JS files belonging to other plugins

CSS/JS Minifier: Prevent calling @is_file when it's not the case to avoid on specific environments errors such as: "is_file: open_basedir restriction in effect"

Preload CSS feature: When a .css file is preloaded (Basic), the "media" attribute is preserved if it's not missing and different than "all"
"Rank Math SEO" & "Premmerce" plugin compatibility: Prevent Asset CleanUp Pro's "Plugins Manager" rules from triggering when the permalinks are updated
Combine CSS Fix / The preload and stylesheet LINK tags had the same "id" attribute which shouldn't be like that as the "id" should be unique for each HTML element
Correção
Fix / In rare cases, the following error is printed: 'Fatal error: Uncaught ValueError: DOMDocument::loadHTML: Argument #1 ($source) must not be empty within the method "cleanerHtmlSource" inside the "OptimizeCommon" class'

Hardcoded assets: When an asset was moved from HEAD to BODY or vice-versa, make sure a notice is placed there in the hardcoded row (when managing the assets) that it had its position changed just like it's done for the enqueued assets
Removed unused PHP code from specific files
Correção
On some environments, the following error would show up when WP CLI is used: "PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function getScriptAttributesToApplyOnCurrentPage on null"
When the CSS/JS is managed in the front-end, the styling for the hardcoded assets was broken when the list was sorted via location
Specific HTML code (unique signatures belonging to Asset CleanUp Pro) that was no longer relevant after optimizing the HTML source was not completely removed as it should be (in order to leave a cleaner HTML source code and not confuse the admin)
Versão 1.2.4.4

Melhoria
Hardcoded assets: They can be moved from to and vice-versa just like the enqueued assets
Hardcoded assets: Can be preloaded, loaded based on the media query, deferred/asynched just like the enqueued assets (for tags with the "src" attribute & tags with the "href" attribute)
Hardcoded assets' sorting: The assets are now sorted based on the option chosen in "Assets List Layout:" (e.g. if you sort them by their size, you can view the hardcoded assets from the largest one to the the smallest)
Styling Improvement: Anything from "Settings" related to removal of something (e.g. Google Fonts) has a new style of the switcher (the styled checkbox), now showing a dark red background; This looks the same as the one from the CSS/JS manager for "Unload on this page".
Correção
If the following option is set to "Standard" (from "Settings" -- "Plugin Usage Preferences" -- "Accessibility"), make sure that the rule applies to any form field from the plugin, including the one
Error message: Uncaught TypeError: strpos: Argument #1 ($haystack) must be of type string, array given in [...]/wpacu.php:185 / This triggered whenever the "page" query string was used as an array / e.g. /wp-admin/admin.php?page =value
